When done correctly, drafting plans and procedures can support strong situational awareness. However, they are rarely integrated into regular business processes. Many assume that incidents only happen to others.
But if plans and procedures are in place, is it realistic to expect that everything will go according to plan during an incident? No—not when we consider the (human) challenges we face in unfamiliar situations.
